2019: Reject Buhari now, he’ll hand over to Tinubu – Group tells Igbos

Image
A socio-political organization, Ndigbo Unity Assembly, NUA, has called on Igbos to reject President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 for his alleged plans to handover to a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bolaji Ahmed Tinubu in 2023. The organization made the call yesterday after their expanded emergency meeting in Onitsha, Anambra State. This was in reaction to the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki’s claim that Buhari struck agreement with Tinubu to hand over power to him (Tinubu) in 2023. NUA said it had become glaringly clear that the party and its leadership don’t have the interest of the Igbo people at heart. President General of the organization, Dede Uzor, pointed out that Saraki’s revelation which had not been denied by either President Buhari or Tinubu had confirmed the fears of majority of Ndigbo that APC and its leadership had no good agenda for Ndigbo right from its inception. The meeting was attended by the state chairmen from the five South East states, includi

OPINION: Governor Udom Emmanuel is welcome in the APC | jomotv.com

Editor's note: The convener of Akwa Ibom Politburo For Good Governance, Bassey Amba Offong, writes on the rumours that Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state, might be on his way to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Indeed Godswill Akpabio is an empty shell who has been unceremoniously rejected and abandoned by at least 97 per cent of his erstwhile political allies. Indeed the political demystification of Godswill Akpabio has run full circle. It is against Akpabio’s current status of a political leper that his desperation to stop Governor Udom Emmanuel should be understood. Akpabio sponsored a false publication claiming that Chief Don Etiebet and other APC leaders were opposed to Governor Udom Emmanuel joining the APC. It is instructive that Chief Don Etiebet has denied issuing any such vexatious and childish statement. Governor Udom Emmanuel has the right to join the APC like every other Nigerian. If Godswill Akpabio whose defection has been of inconsequential value to the

The presidency has issued a statement urging its supporters to be calm and exercise patience during the election campaigns so the game can be played according to rules. In a statement signed by Femi Adesina, 'It has been observed that some fervent supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari have begun what may be interpreted as political campaigns in their advocacies and advertisements in the mass media'. He continued to say, 'we appreciate their enthusiasm, borne out of desire to garner support for an administration that is actuated by nothing else, other than service for motherland, but we hereby appeal for patience, so that the game can be played according to the rules. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has a timetable for political campaigns, and we urge committed supporters round the country (and beyond) to be mindful of such. There will be ample time ahead to trumpet the good works of the Buhari administration, and solicit re-election, all for the good

By Emmanuel Aziken, Political Editor, Henry Umoru & Dirisu Yakubu A BUJA— Senators are headed for a stormy session today, outraged, over the anticipatory approval and payment of $496 million to the United States Government by President Muhammadu Buhari for the purchase of 12 A29 Super Tucano aircraft. The approval for the payment was made without appropriation by the National Assembly, and in direct conflict with the provisions of the constitution, National Assembly members fumed, yesterday. Today’s stormy session is expected to be further aggravated by plans to use the newly amended Legislative Houses and Privileges Act to clamp an indefinite suspension on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, APC, Delta Central over his alleged role in the invasion of the chambers by thugs, last Wednesday. The amended act signed into law by President Buhari last January, among others, gives the Senate the powers to ban until the end of the session. Meanwhile, the Senate leadership, last night, met on how to di
